The votive deposit of the Italic sanctuary of San Pietro in Cantoni (Sepino Archaeological Park) has yielded extraordinary objects related to worship, including ceramics, precious jewelry, and a remarkable bronze statuette. This statuette, dated to the 3rd century BC, depicts a young female figure with classical and elegant features. The body’s posture and gentle rotation reflect the influence of large-scale Greco-Hellenistic sculpture, which inspired the piece. Her clothing is extremely refined: she wears a chiton with a V-shaped neckline, fastened by a clasp on the right shoulder and cinched below the bust with a belt. An himation wraps diagonally across her torso, from the left shoulder to the right leg, accentuating the contours of her body. Her hair is styled in a neat chignon. Her right arm rests on her hip, while the left is extended forward, holding a migratory duck—symbol of the changing seasons and a link between earth and sky. An Oscan inscription is engraved on the bronze base of the statuette, a dedication to the deity: “trebis: dekkiis: ups(e)d: ded(e)d: de(ì)vaì braateìs: datas:” (“Trebio Decio made and offered [this] to the goddess in gratitude for grace received.”) Although the inscription does not mention a specific name, it is likely dedicated to the goddess Mefitis, a deity of springs who fosters the regeneration of life and procreation, protects transitions, supports exchanges, accompanies humans through the seasons of life, and connects them with the divine realm.
サエピノ考古公園内にあるサン・ピエトロ・ディ・カントーニのイタリック系聖域における奉納物の貯蔵所（スティーペ）からは、信仰に関連する極めて貴重な遺物が多数出土しています。その中には、陶器類、精緻な装身具、そして特筆すべき青銅製の小像が含まれています。 この小像は紀元前3世紀に制作されたと考えられており、古典的で優雅な特徴を持つ若い女性像を表現しています。身体の姿勢とわずかなねじれは、ギリシア・ヘレニズム期の大理石彫刻に見られる典型的な様式を反映しており、この作品がその芸術的伝統から強く影響を受けていることが窺えます。 装束は極めて洗練されており、右肩に留め金（フィブュラ）で留められたキトン（長衣）を着用し、胸の下で帯によって締められています。さらに、ヒマティオン（外衣）が左肩 から右脚にかけて身体を包み込み、女性の姿態を引き立たせています。髪型は後頭部でまとめられ、いわゆるシニヨン風に結い上げられています。 右腕は腰に置かれ、左腕は前方に伸ばされており、その手には渡り鳥のカモ（アヒル）を抱えています。このカモは季節の巡りを象徴し、大地と天空をつなぐ媒介的存在と見なされていたと考えられます。 像の青銅製の台座には、オスク語による献辞が刻まれており、「トレビオ・デキオが、この像を女神に捧げた。恩恵に感謝して。」と記されています。銘文自体には神の名は明示されていませんが、おそらくこの神はメフィティスと推定されます。メフィティスは泉の女神であり、命の再生や子孫繁栄を司ると同時に、通過儀礼を守護し、人々の人生の季節を見守りながら、彼らを神聖な領域へと導く存在とされていました。
